So my 2005 BMW 330xi AWD has finally thrown a code, p0171 Running lean on bank 1. Things I have checked for so far.

1. Vacuum Leaks.
2. DISA Valve, seems fine and properly working.
3. Check the oil dipstick heard of a'lot of people having cracks in there dipstick tube causing this code.

Symptoms of the car, on initial start-up it has a semi rough idle as if it were choking itself out. Takes roughly 10 minutes before the car quits idling funny and stables itself out. Once the car has the rich mixture required on first start of the day it has no symptoms of anything being bad, runs like a dream. My concern is I hate having any of my vehicles with a Service light on or CEL light

Funding for anything recommended is no problem, but I would like some good feedback from someone who knows there way around a BMW.

have you checked fuel pressure? fuel pump? and/or the voltage at the pump?

Also check your fuel pressure regulator.

Since you say it runs fine when on the first and coldest start of the day, this leads me to think its a fueling problem.

But after you say the car take ten minutes to warm up and stable out, does the car drive normally? Is there a lack of power? any stumbles?

There are a LOT of things that can cause a lean condition, hopefully by eliminating the easy diagnoses we will figure out your problems.

Ah, no Andy, it only has the rough idle on the first start of the day. Once it has idle'd about 10 minutes it stables out and runs like it had never seen a problem in it's time. The car has all the power and luxuries of driving once the car has passed its hick-ups in the morning. Just the first start of the day.. Has me scratching my head and since all the mechanics around my area are morons I knew if my integra was fixed here, with help of you  maybe we can diagnose my daily driver.

If its running rough on the first start of the day, this actually makes the problem sooo much easier to diagnose. That's good news. Well....Hopefully, haha.

Excuse me for a minute while I familiarize myself with the AWD BMWs. Specifically the cold start system.

New plugs, new coils roughly 4000 miles ago.

MAF.

Brand new as well. Had to replace the entire intake system about 2 weeks ago, the dealer did this.

So far I'm in the car within the past 2 months almost 2500$ for the tune up. Majority of it taken care of by the BMW dealer, but I refuse to pay them 600$ to tell me what's wrong with my vehicle! :D

Cleaned the throttle body as well, figured with everything taken apart and no one likes pulling the DISA valve what better time to clean it :)

MAF.

Maybe do some cleaning on throttle body. I always like to clean shit as I think of possible causes.

If it helps on the first start-up of the day my Live data obd reader says everything is checking out ok except the idle goes from 800-450ish, when stable the car idles at 800 where it is suppose to be at.
