How do most people with build threads get access to car lifts? Do you just get in good with the owner of the shop and get your car in there on slow days?

Are there any cheap ways of simulating a car lift at home? Obviously not as tall, but something to make it easier to get under the car without jacking it up?

I have access to hoists at work, but if i am at home i just use jack stands.

same with me, I'd put lifts in my storage unit but I'm not allowed to drill into the floor

Do the jack stands get the job done? Is it annoying to get your car up on them? I've never used them before.



Do you know how much it would cost for something like a single car lift?

youll get use to it, buy a creeper.

most of the time ive used a lift its been at work after hours when the shop was empty most of the time its jack n jack stands or ramps (doin oil changes)

lifts are anywhere from 2500-5k.

You can use a jack and jackstands for anything. Army crawling without creepers are also fun.
