Hello all,

I drive a 2002 honda civic and I've recently started having some weird problems with it.
It does not do this all the time, has been over a week since the last time.

What it does : Weird feel of loss of power, battery light and check engine light "flashes", when i try to accelerate it goes up to 2500-3000 rpm and feels like i hit the firestop (?translated this from google, lol.)
- edit 2 : It "sputters", feels like it wants to stall. no idea how else i could explain this.

Few weeks ago i had it checked at the garage and they ended up telling me it was the battery that died. I got them to change it and a week later it did the same thing. Went back at the garage and they said that they "test drove it" and that there was no problems. All their tests came out with no problems, so they don't know what's going on.

Brings me to this morning, has been at least 8-9 days since my last visit to the garage and it randomly did it again on my way to class.

Should i go to a new garage and pay the service fee to get a second opinion?

Any help is appreciated, tried giving as much details as i could. Sorry for my spelling/text mistakes if there is many.

Edit -> I have to drive back home in 8-10 days so i need this fixed asap.

Sounds like your car is going into limp mode.

Try resetting the ECU. Disconnect the battery then pull fuse #6 from the fuse box in the engine compartment. Wait 10 minutes, reconnect battery, replace fuse.

You're going to have to let your ECU relearn your idle afterwards.

Make sure all electrical items are turned off.
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm with no load (in Park or Neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed and with all electrical items off.

If that doesn't work, your ECU might be toast.

my mom had issues when a squirrel made a nest in the air filter box, but im pretty sure a professional mechanic would of checked the air filter.
maybe a clogged fuel filter.

but both these things should not affect the batteries, so its probably something else

this is exactly what is wrong with your car. i had the same problem on my older mustang and it turned out the pcm was faulty and they had to replace it. just bring it to a mechanic.
