Should I buy a crate motor or build one

Well, kinda depends on your experience and skill with engine builds... A crate is a guaranteed runner, but you can build much more powerful/responsive engines than you can buy in my experience. Not to mention that you can build it more specific to your preferences.

I kno I'm looking at a 460 bb from summit racing for 7k but doesn't come with comp it has 525 HP not to bad

Haha, small world, I was JUST looking at the Summit crate engines in the new catalog I got today....Those 460s are a pretty penny.


What's this going in? Your dirt monster? go kart? moped?

1986 f150 gana make it a drag truck I'm don't with the big trucks everytime I go out I spend the next month rebuilding axles and repairing fixes that I destroy casue I get to drunk

if youre making a drag truck why wouldnt you go with the small block and have less weight and equal power?

The 460 is a monster for torque, but they are HUGE.

Cause I also want to be able to stay on the track , might do something smaller mabey a 302 stroker I got a site tjat builds race engines ill post it when I get home they make a video of your engine on the dyno for you to see the power

you can always go with a bigger c.i. small block. im just saying because of the weight of a big block and the fact you are looking at around 525hp you can easily get that from a small block. and its just a straight line you shouldnt have any problems staying on track the bb wouldnt help you there anyway.
