so my 4 years old persan pee on the couch at least one time a month. Got him on the ''deathrow'' at the pound at 2 years old ( i guess now i know why last dude got rid of him) hes got a very nice personality and all around the best cat ive ever had except for that one flaw, peeing on my couch

just replaced the couch thinking he might pick up smell from other cats triggered is territorial instinct since it was an old couch and had other cats on it.

he took a wizz on it this morning, between when i left for work and my gf getting up. 2 hours span

Things i did so far;

Change the litter frequency set to daily
add more litter box ( 3 total )
change and tried many types of litter, of all types and brand.
trimming his legs and tail fur so he doesnt pee on his own fur or leg
take him to the vet to check for urinary infections
play with him around the litter box
Tried to catch him on the go and that never happened, like he knows.

What is my next move ?

I just got a new couch costed me 1500 bucks, also have a baby on the way and i reaaaally dont want cat piss in baby stuff bed carrier clothes or whatever

I got a crate, it is large enough so it can fit litter box, bedding and food/water, but not sure he would be happy, i dont think he ever got crated ever and it would be only for sleep/work. I fear he starts meowing and scratching on the crate. I wonder if its cruel to do this.

Dont get me wrong, i love this cat and hes one of my best mate in life we have a really good thing going on and I DONT WANT TO GET RID OF HIM

I took him up and gave him a home and love and took good care of him, i cant even think about giving up on him.

So what are my options here.

Cat crate with all the fixins? will he ever get used to it or am i dooming him to be sad kitty for the rest of his life ?
Cat dedicated night room ( laundry, fairly large )?
Super product that i can put on the couch that will prevent this shit from happening ? none of them have only good reviews

Im not sure what is the best way to fix my problem without ruining quality of life for everybody

watch tv on an amonia smelling cushions, not very cool. just changed the furniture and my wallet knows im not rich, would like for them to last a few years.

Any advice, help, constructive criticism, anything ?

it could be a number of things that makes your cat pee on the couch homie. cats are super territorial and can be doing this to mark his territory even if he has been neutered.

do you have any other animals that live with you or close to you that live nearby? (that could be a big reason why he pees on the couch)

i suggest only using one litter box (if you just have the one cat) and keep it away from his food/water bowl. cat's don't like to poop where they eat! true story though.

there are products that you can get to keep cats off of furniture but they tend to work on some cats and not all. it really depends on your cat.

please don't crate your kitty! :( that will only make him go crazy and then you'll have bigger problems on your hand. also a night room would be a good idea if it was big enough but it wont solve the problem. he'll just pee on your couch during the day.

i would ask your vet and even your groomers what you can do about it. :)

I have another cat

Vet told me to put 3 litter box ( one for each + 1 )

I don't have the heart to crate him tbh

I instead put loads of things on the couche so he cant get on it.

that's my fix for now but I was hoping for a better one

Yo man theres this spray u can buy at petsmart that keeps ur cat from pissing on furniture...dont remember whats its called but ive had some luck with it. Also a spray bottle that shoots a stream of water out to about 10 feet works wonders on cats...

oh one important question i have since u got him as a rescue...are ur cats strictly inside cats? because if u keep him inside all the time and he was once and inside/outside cat that could be the prob too
