So he does not do that all the time. But once every week or 2, he just goes in his litter box I think , "I never saw him do it", and sticks his butt out of the litter box and begins to pee.

So it goes on the floor everywhere. His litter box is open. And he was still doing it when it was closed.

Any suggestion?

He's 16 by the way and we have no other pet.

Bladder infection or nasty litter box

If the box is clean, take him to the vet because he probably has some sort of infection.

Gotta put him down.. it is for the best.

No his litter box is clean. But are you sure? He's kind of old, maybe he's just being dumb or something.

This sounds like a simple problem, if he is in the box but just missing you should try to get a litter box with a top(I personally hate these), or there are clip ons of litter boxes that add like a small ledge. most pet stores sell them. If you can't find one check on-line

His litter box had a top before and he was doing it as well. And he was scratching himself alot and the veterinarian told me to remove it cause it would help and it did.

hm he might need a bigger litter box

my kitty likes to pile up his little on one side of it and does his business there

maybe hes attempting to do the same but since he's older he's missing?

try giving him 2 litters maybe o.o

Your cat is old its more then normal that he misses the litter

And no dont pur him on diaper wtf?... its a cat not a baby
Also just bring him to vet to be 100% sure he has no issues

I know .... I was jokingggg , lol who in their right mind would put a diaper on a cat.
