My cat keeps pooping on the same rug downstairs and her litter box is always clean and accessible (its also downstairs like the next room besude the rug) i want to know how to stop this behaviour

Im not asking your opinion on getting a dog
no im not going to hit the cat
no im not throwing the cat out
and i will certainly not harm her in any way

We also have changed the rug thinking it would work

Shes a very happy cat

Always access to water
eats 3 times a day ( mornining , aftre noon , night)
i also let her out in the yard from time to time under my surveillance
i play with her daily

Try a fine grained sandtype litter rather than gravel textured clay. In some cases it may be necessary to start off with the substance the cat was used to (soil, sand, newspaper) and gradually make the switch by changing the proportion of old type to new type over a period of several weeks. Clean the solids out of the litter box daily; completely change the litter and wash out the box as often as necessary to keep it clean and dry. Remember, a cat who lived outdoors had many sites to choose from; a dirty box will drive the cat away from the box to a cleaner, drier spot (the back of your closet!). If the cat refuses to use the box at any stage, back up to the last stage at which he was successful.

The combination of confinement and supervised freedom is the method of choice. The cat starts the program in confinement. Most cats do well in small rooms. The bathroom is recommended as it typically has non-absorbent tile flooring and offers privacy. Since the bathroom is an essential one for humans, the cat is not isolated for extended periods of time. In addition to those necessary trips to the bathroom, you should make time for 3 to 4 twenty minute sessions with the cat either playing, grooming, talking or feeding. Put a bed for the cat in the room along with some toys. Remember to place dishes and bedding in the corner of the room farthest from the litter box.

Some cats may require a space smaller than a room (with no opportunity to choose the wrong spot) in order to learn to use the box. For these cats, a cattery cage or vari-kennel is useful. It must be big enough to accommodate the cat bed at one end, and the litter box at the other. If the cat urinates on the cat bed, it must be removed. Feed the cat two meals a day, leaving the food down for approximately 20 minutes. Keep a diary; note when the cat uses the litter box.

Try googling it also.

There must be something your missing. If she pees in a certain place I would try to put the liter over there. Other then that, either take her to a vet., ask, petco workers, or do some intensive research.

Ive had 4 cats in my life, they all eventually learned to use the liter before 2, idk.

shes usually a good girl, but she does not go as often as she likes so that might be that, but then again she was using the litter the first day we got her, and at one point we had a holiday weekend in canada (no shops were open) so she had to hold her poop for 3 days and she actually did

/E i wish i could let her out, but there are way to many dogs in this neighboor (big dogs) just near my house there is 3 dogs one black labrador but shes cool with my cat aslong as i am nearby to tell her no , then again there is another labrador and a german sheperd in which none of them will listen to me
