So just noticed it, and will most likely bring her to the vet tomorrow.. but...

noticed my cat was licking her butt quite a bit (I had been at work all day)

So I decided to see what all the fuss was about.

There was an immediate hooorrrrible odor when I investigated. And her entire butt area was wet, some from licking and mostly a white puss/ooze coming from a hole near her anus.

I honestly can't tell if it IS her anus.. or a small hole next to it. It's somewhat swollen and when squeezed slightly.. more puss comes out with a SMALL amount of blood in it.

I took some scissors and cleaned up the hair somewhat around her so it would be easier to keep clean,

then wiped it down really well, even splashing some warm water to attempt to clean it further.

Didn't do a whole lot.. but its better than it was.

I google'd and couldn't find anything insanely promising other than some kind of anal gland thing. Perhaps ruptured or something.

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge here.

Thanks.

Needs to go to a vet to see in person because it could be a multitude of things.
Best case it's a cyst. Regardless needs to be seen by the vet.

I did a really good job of cleaning it and gave her a bath, trimmed some of the hair back there to help keep it clean... pushed all the puss out (which was horribly gross) and the next day it looked like nothing had happened.

Still looks fine today, so most likely just gonna keep an eye on it and if anything comes back I'll bring her in.

Other than that.. business as usual. Weird.

Yes sounds like a burst anal gland, my dog had one over summer. Keeo it extremely clean and make sure she does not touch or lick it, diaper her even to keep it clean. Antibiotics are extremely recommended.

Take your cat to the vet. They can prescribe the antibiotics that your pet needs.

Has the animal lost weight?
Is it eating, peeing , pooping normal?

Anal glad exploding is very very unlikely.
The colin needs to be checked asap

Does the animal press its head on things? For a period of more then 2 min?
