What's your viewpoint on the Positive; negative; differential reinforcements?

I trained my dog when i was 15 and always got a lot of compliments on how well behaved she was. Does that count?

Positive i used praise and a few treats

negative i would just scold her im not a big fan of the old whack them with a newspaper tecnique
