So basically once a month my dog will get out of bed and basically not be able to walk. He throws his legs around and basically runs in place until he gets too tired and lays down. He keeps trying to stand up but he can't until I get him to calm down then he gets up, act all depressed for another 5 minutes then he's back to normal.

The vet basically thinks i'm making it up but want me to bring him in for testing which is going to cost me an arm and a leg...

anyone have a dog that has done this?

My dog is a yellow lab mix (not sure the other breeds)
hes approx. 3 years old (rescue not sure his actual birthday)
his name is Charlie (for easier reference)

My dog has seizures and what you described is what happens to my dog when he has one. He starts shaking violently for about 20-30 sec, then he'll lay there breathing heavily for about 5 minutes. After he'll start trying to walk around but bump into furniture and fall over a lot.

You can try changing your dogs diet and see if that helps. Otherwise, you'll have get him tested and put him on medication.

Sometimes it happenes also cause of fleas and other parasites..my dog had it once...he was frustrated and was walking around one place...then the vet found some wound on his body and gave him a special collar

If your dog is showing signs of epilepsy, you should do something to prevent it from getting worse, not run a comb through him...

I called the vet and they said they cannot do anything unless it starts to happen more often. Medications for dogs can only limit them, not prevent them like in people.

I'm keeping a closer eye on him and I now have a monitoring camera on him in his crate when i'm not home so I can watch him from work in case anything happens.

The Vet also told me to try and record and document everything that happens IF it happens again.
