Also 11 years is an extraordinarily long life for an outdoor cat. Below is a link to a fact sheet from PETCO.com...Possibly a biased piece as I can't tell if it has been peer reviewed or not, but the main ideas cannot be argued with.

Additionally, from what I can glean from the OP's brief post he is attempting to make a cat that has spent his/her life indoors transition to an outdoor lifestyle without any additional training from a parental cat.
It's a bad idea.
