So my roommate is allergic, but everyone else wants a pet.

We like medium sized dogs, such as: german shepard, labrador, huskie, vizsla

We're okay with some small dogs, but want to avoid the annoying and needy ones like poodles, yorkshire terriers, etc.

So, can anyone recommend a good hypoallergenic breed?

There are a lot of options you can go for.
Even with allergies, that shouldn't stop you from getting the type of dog you always wanted. It all depends on how you take care of it and the area the dog is in, in this case, your apartment.
I would recommend Schnauzers. They're great dogs and come in different sizes.
But like I have mentioned before, it's the way you take care of them. There are many ways to keep your roommate allergies to a minimum, even with a dog who produces a lot of dander.
Take the right precautions to avoid major problems. Do some research and PM me if you would like more input.

I have two(small dogs):

Sheltie Poo (Sheltie Doodle) = Sheltie + Poodle, he is about 13-15 pounds
Bichon Poo = Bichon + Poodle, he is a little smaller about 11-13 pounds

The Sheltie Poo looks like this:

The Bichon Poo looks like this:

but we keep his hair shorter, kind of like this:

Obviously they are small. Now I think most poodles are ugly in general, and most people groom them to make them look even uglier, same with poodle mixes. But the way I keep them groom makes them look so adorable. If you let the Bichon Poo grow its hair a little longer he looks just like a teddy bear. Any time I take him anywhere peoples hearts just melt, especially women, haha my gf hates it!

They are just both so cute, super loving, and VERY smart dogs. Perfect for me and my gf. They ring a bell by the door when they need to go out. THey are crate trained, so when we to work or go out we say 'go in your house' and they run straight into their own crates.

Those pictures are not exact, but closest I could find on google

I have a bichon peekapoo
Bichon poo.
Very companion dog, he is very attached to my mom. He use to stand on his Hine legs and spin and spin and spin for treats until he jumped into the car and hurt his hip :(
He'll be 14-15 at the end of the month

Very high maintenance this their coat
