i had 2 now down to 1
what should i do?
will the other one die w/o another one
or will he b fine with a mirror toy or should i not put the mirror in and just try training him alone?

Parakeets like other parrot/parakeet breeds are known to bond with one person particularly, and without it's "mate" or partner that it's known to be with every day, it can start to become stressed out; if you see it start picking at it's neck feathers. it's probably going to stop taking care of itself, that's how it shows that it's sad

you could try introducing another parakeet in a cage next to it until it warms up to them, but i wouldn't put them together right away, they could attack each other after one being with another for so long.
you could also try handling it more personally and waiting it out, spend a lot of time with it, eventually it will forget, birds' brains aren't big enough to have a life long memory, but if it continues how it is now, eventually it could starve itself without a distraction.

depending on how long they have been in the same cage together i might get another.

I used to own lots of birds, my peach faced loves didn't breed for 2 years when I sold one of their babies. they do get attached. id get em a friend, but as said before don't introduce right away keep em separated.. I recently sold my macaws as a pair cause of this
