Other two I put back into the nest, the other one was on the ground and unable to find the nest. I left him there for a while, and came back and wasn't moving or anything. So I picked him up to check on him and he was alive, but had his eyes closed. So I gathered some worms and put him in a bucket with a shirt in it and tapped him on his head to see if he would wake up and his mouth opened wide, so I took some tweezers and put some chopped up worms in his mouth and he started to open his eyes.

So does anyone else have experience with finding baby birds or know what to do? I looked up some baby food formulas and I'm going to go to the store and pick up some high protein cat food, and mix up some of the stuff I read..

Anyone have any opinions or actually have any experience with these?

Thanks.

Edit: Going to try to find his nest tomorrow and put him back in it like the others...I'll contact a wildlife rehab center tomorrow and take it out there which is a 30 minutes ride, since I don't want to see the little thing die

Well no bird shelters within a hour close by, and no way I can feed him every 20 minutes. I'm going to look for his nest and if all goes bad then I'll put him back where I found him and feel horribly bad =/

edit: Wheew!! I grabbed my ladder and found his nest where I found him with his 2 other birds waiting in the nest on him...

if u touched him with your hands the mother bird will pick up on that scent and just toss him out or ignore him

This is just a saying, birds will take their young back if you touch them. It's best to return them to the nest and maybe go outside to look at them every once in awhile. It's great that you're looking up information on how to properly take care of them, I'm sure the sites you have visited will give you the information you need if something goes wrong. My advice is to keep an eye on the ones you returned to the nest to see if their parent came back, they are obviously very vulnerable alone.

ahhh this happened to me when I was gardening, except it was a small female hummingbird. I paid some guy from the valley who owns a gigantic farm and help rehabilitate animals $50 to drive all the way out and back to let this bird live.
(Broken Wing)

When he called me 2 and a half weeks later he said the hummingbird recovered and actually went back into the wild.

what you did friend is what we are meant to do, there are no two ways about it we are the guardians of life, so why not protect it instead of destroy.

good for you.

hate finding broken wing birds outside glass sliding doors, considering we have 13 of them at my house... bummer.
