I've researched some on forums and talked to my vet. I can't seem to curb her habit. I need advice--not criticism

I know this has to do a lot with how I train my puppy....but I was wondering if you guys could give me suggestions. My dog bites--hard--when she greets me(whether it be one hour or several). (She's a sucker for attention).
She is a jack Russell mix so she can also jump at me when I hold my hands to my chest.
Ignoring her doesn't help but giving her the *sit* command temporarily stops her from biting. She gets overly excited and I'm not sure how to get her to relax.

5 months. And she's really stubborn.

lemme guess: she is teething (and with that type of dog it can take up to 12 months)

ensure she has something to chew on, eg raw-hide, and always tell her "no" when she tries to nip/chew your hand
it will take some time, my new puppy is now 9 months old and still at times tempted to 'nip'
(since he is a larger dog his teething was finished a few months ago)

Btw she snaps so it's not teething it's the tendency for small dogs to nip. She is notoriously rough with her toys and I only give her chews every now and then. So I guess I'll try giving her non-food toy to play with when I get home. "I'm-home-you-can-play-toy"

Thank you for the advice. I'll give it a shot.
Has anyone had luck with the spray bottle with water?

I used to have a full-blooded jack russell that would do the same thing. Everytime I walked in the door he would go crazy and try and nip at my hands and feet to get attention. I eventually broke this habit by simply disciplining him and then putting him in the kennel right after.
