We took our dog to the vet yesterday, turns out she has arthritis in her spine.
she will now have to take 2 medications for the rest of her life, they are going to give her another one in 2 weeks when we take her back if her liver has any problems with the 1st 2 they gave her.
poor girl, shes 10 years old.
arthritis is common in older dogs
usually the cheapest anti-inflammatory drug is aspirin, which dogs can take (the amount depends on the size of the dog)
the anti-inflammatory drugs the vet will sell you are around 10-15 times as expensive
my guess would be that one of the two drugs your dog will have to take is for that purpose
so speak to your vet about it
(depending on how my previous [he died last june] dog felt [he had athritis too] we gave him 1-3 of the small 100mg apirins a day for the last few years)
