So I adopted a kitten from the shelter about a month ago. I have another cat that i adopted about a year and a half ago. The older cat is 1 and a half(FEMALE). The new kitten is about 4 months(MALE). It took about 2 days for them to get used to each other. In the beginning(about 3 weeks ago), they would play with each other, sleep together, etc. Now it seem like my older cat is fed up with him. She isn't the same as when I had her all alone. She used to be more active, run around and play with me. Now, all she does it eat, drink, sleep.sleep... and sleep. I don't know if she is but she seems depressed to me. I try to give her more attention by petting her all the time and picking her up, kissing her, but she just meows angrily and walks away. Is this normal? If not, what should I do? PLEASE HELP!

In my opinion it's either a jealousy thing, or just the fact that the kitten wears your older cat out so it wants to sleep more. Remember, you aren't home 24/7, so they could play while you are gone.
I wouldn't sweat it too much buddy.

I think its Jealousy thing. Im not certain yet but Im thinking of actually returning the little one to the shelter :( . I love my older cat very much and want her to be happy. I kind of feel like wanting to return my kitten but i don't at the same time because I'll miss him very much. Im very confused. Hopefully things can get better soon

its not jeliousy, cats are nocternal, they are most active at like 4-5-6 am...their earlier activity activity was actually the cats trying to show dominance and mark territory...some cats can sleep for 18 hours a day...before my last cat at 17 died his las few years he slept probably 20 hours a day, he would get up eat, lay in the sun, shit and back to bed

give your cat more time to become better acquainted with the kitten, mine took several months to get used to our kitten. it may also be that your cat is older and lazier.
