i currently have a 2 year old german shorthair that i got a little over a year ago, she was abused and recently had an incident where she got her head caught in a coon trap. shes scared of trees and long grass. she just stays in a small radius of like 25 feet from the house. shes doesnt like the country atmosphere where i live anymore. when i take her to my parents house in town she doesnt seem to worry about those things. my mother wont get another dog unless its my current dog because shes in love with her. my dad and younger brothers would really like a dog. ive been thinking about giving my dog to them for christmas and getting a new puppy. i would still see my dog on a regular basis at my parents house, and i think it would be better for everybody.

on that note i would be looking into puppies, getting it young and raising it and becoming best friends. ive always wanted a large breed like a great dane or a mastiff. i do like alot of breeds and definiatly miss my rottweiler and labs ive had in the past. im just looking for a buddy type dog.
any suggestions? pics would be great!
also anybody with puppies for sale in wisconsin or surrounding states i would be willing to travel to find the right puppy for me

A puppy would actually help your current dog, Since a puppy is so adventurous the older dogs curiosity will kick in and will relax a little more :)

For dog breed info read my sticky at the top of pet forum. Pick a breed that suits you life style, Amount of excersize you do and space you have in your house / garden.

With a puppy it is different, I dont know why. After a few weeks they will bond, Ther pup will most likely annoy the dog until it gives up and plays :p

You should get your current dog sorted out, Get it used to new things and back to being a proper dog. Treats in a bucket is good, The dog has to stick its head in the bucket to get the treat but it cant see any of the surroundings, This helped my friends dog.

Take the dog for a walk in the country, When he sniffs something or pee's on an object give the dog a treat.

Also since your dog doesnt like the country, Take the dog into the woods and just do the basic commands ( sit / paw ) do this a few times a day for a few mins each time.

Main objective is to get the dog excited about exploring the woods.

When you do it make sure not bang the bucket or anything thgat would scare him.

After he takes the treat out the bucket with np introduce a little noises to keep the work goin. Like usin toy cars or somethin, Nothin to insane at start :p
