my male , 6 year old cat pees and poops always near his litter but he never goes in it.
i had this cat for 4-5 years now and we recently moved to a new house ( approximately 2 weeks ), we shown him where his litter is and he's still doing his stuff next to it.
we've put him in the basement with me and closed the door with his food and drink from 10pm to 8 am for ~ 5 days and he doesn't seem to get the message...
he used to be a cat that goes outside all the time but since we moved he can't go out cuz we live in a busy street.
he has done for the past 2 days : 1 poop and 5 pee and i can't support this anymore and i'm going to the stage that i'm going to just return him to some place to get him adopted again if he's going to do 1 more poop on the floor..

does anyone have an idea of what could be going on with my cat?

Has he ever use his litter box? Or he never used it since you got him?

Some possibilities that he doesn't use it is:

He's not comfortable using it in front of people because some cats think of it as their private time.
You change the location of where the litter box was originally.
He/She was not potty-trained.
Many other possibilities that i have not mentioned.

More information on him would be helpful.

he used his litter box allot and never gave too much trouble about it in the old house.
his litter is in a corner of a room that rarely people go there so the privacy part should be covered.
the litter box used to be on the main floor and he never used it so we changed it in the basement and he can't go upstairs since the doors are closed and all the times i found some poop or pee next to his litter box i shown him the poop or pee and told him to not do that , i showed him his litter box location and forced him to go in his litter box for 1 minute.
i trained him to do his stuff in the litter box since i adopted him ( he was 6 months old or even younger when we got him) and he has been using it all the time he wasn't outside.
what i noticed is that he tries to dig it when he does it on the floor for some reason... i'm getting pissed off about it cuz it wakes me up knowing he did something on the floor.

It's a new environment because you just moved. Since it's only 2 weeks, he's still getting used it to. Isolating him in a room will not be your solution.
How many litter box do you have for him?
Get a few litter boxes and put the around the house. Leave the doors open for him so that he can roam around to get familiarize with the new home you guys are in.
Let him be for a good day or two and see how this works. Keep me updated.

Also, don't bring him to a vet because it will only cost money and they'll tell you the same thing.

my cat is free to go anywhere in the house in the daytime , it's mostly to avoid problems and getting people really pissed off in the morning.
we got 1 litter box in the basement and we can't have any more spreaded around the house since it would ruin the house decoration.
ill try to be tolerant with him for 2 days and if he doesn't show any improvement, i'm going to send him to a new family.

How long have you had him for? Hate to see family put up their cat for adoption but sometimes it's for the best. Wish you the best with the cat and hope everything turns out right.

Although I do want you to try a method before doing so:

Feed him next to his litter box - Some cats usually go right after they eat.
If you can not have litter boxes around the house, try 2 litter box in the same room.

Since it's a new house - he's probably too scared to go in the box since its in the corner and he doesn't see escape route from the litter box. I would try pulling it out of the corner a little bit - maybe to where he was peeing on the floor - and try putting a old spare chair or maybe a cardboard box, or something else he could go to hide somewhere near the litter box.

Actually, isolating him in a room for a little while may help with adjusting to a new environment. Don't be a prick and initiate a life-changing event such as moving and then get rid of the kitty just for one thing, though he may be better off with a new family if that's how you view your pets.
Giving him his own room with a box, food and water will let him get used to his new house without something so scary as a WHOLE new house to explore all at once.
Something else to consider is that there may be something wrong with him. While I'm thinking it's more the move than anything else, cats will often start eliminating outside the box of they're not feeling too hot. A $50 trip to the vet is always cheaper than the bills later if he gets sick and you just let it go on for too long. Not saying that he is, but it's a consideration.

Remember, having a pet is essentially the same as having a 4-year-old around the house at all times. If you're going to get upset because they make messes and because something about them doesn't match the house decor, then please save yourself AND your potential pet some grief and just don't have any. It's not fair for them and it just makes you look like an idiot.
