If i have a large breed dog and a medium size crate, will the crate hinder the dog's growth overtime as it starts filling in the space?

Yup i know about that. But i'm asking if the dog overgrows the crate (ie. can't flly stand up, can't turn) is it going to hinder his growth

kinda off-topic a bit, but why use a crate? out of all my dogs we never had them in crates except for when they were puppies. after they were potty trained/could go 8 hours w/o peeing, we just let them roam the house all day. i guess it may be different since the couch we have at home has gotten worn/torn from dogs, so if u had nice furniture i could see.

its really nice having them crate trained my dogs are lose in the house but its nice being able to tell them "go to bed" and them go and get in the crate .

Well they are still puppies and they teeth like crazy. I always have to grab something for them to nibble whenever they're not in their crate and i'm busy doing w.e. Once and awhile i catch them doing something bad so i dicipline them. However i can't supervise them every minute. They're only 26 & 31 weeks old. I'd love coming home and not having to worry about things being bitten to pieces or my furniture, leather couches, or carpet get messy. I am aware that once they reach ~12months old they'll be more discipline and not teeth as frequent. But these guys are growing too rapidly and i'm not sure if its worth getting another XL for my other pup.

The crate should be no problem. The only time I could see this possibly becoming one is if the dog stays in the crate for an over excessive amount on time. As you have said, you crate them primarily at night time hence they will not be standing up much if ever.

I would suggest the iCrate if you ever plan on getting a larger one though. I crate my Rottweiler at night time because he is prone to chewing anything and everything of importance to me, it has adiquite space for him to turn around in, and most of all it has wonderful circulations since it is all bars.

if the dog cannot stand up or turn around, you need a bigger crate.

it may not hinder growth, I'm not sure. however it will be very claustrophobic and might give them high anxiety (often chewing on tips of tails/paws or rubbing nose raw against an edge)

We switch both dogs in the 2 crates I have and non are SO FAR experiencing the above actions. I'm really more concerned about the growth than anything else, as I have seen some female rotties that are over 27 inches in height from the shoulders. I guess my 24" rottie would suffice if he does stay like this forver ): - he's only 8 months old
