I heard that if you have a decent amount of goat experience, you can raise dik diks. Now, most people don't know what they are, but they look like deer and are about 18 inches tall.

Does anyone know how to obtain them? They aren't endangered or anything, but they may be a pain to get since they are African.

I haven't found any US law against owning one, but I don't know if you can legally import them unless you are a zoo. Has anyone tried to import a foreign animal before? What's the process like?

This is what they are.

I did a little information searching and from what I've found you can't own one in the united states. I'm gonna assume because there a wild animal and there pretty much the deer of Africa almost.

Well generally speaking they don't want you bringing in exotic species, even ones that are not endangered... may out-compete the local wildlife and you could have drastic effects on other animal populations based on open system. Like the wild feral hogs that run rampant all over the place in the south or the fresh water algae/weeds that how clog all the lakes in America... deer like species are hardy and reproduce fairly fast. That's also why there is a huge deer hunting hobby in the south with very long open seasons.
