Money isn't a problem.

I want a Siberian Husky, The problem is, I don't want to torture a dog by putting it in a warm environment (coastal carolina)

The only way I can seem to find pure ones is from select breeders. I'm in no rush in purchasing these dogs. I've checked my choice sellers to make sure they don't run a puppy mill.

Should I get two girls? Two boys? or a boy and a girl?

Does anyone have any friends of this breed that can tell me about their temperament and behavior?

I'd rather hear from people who have them then yahoo answers and other random numerous online questions places.

The breeders all say the same thing, so for all i know it could be them just trying to make a sale (since theyre all asking 800-1200 per puppy)

Comments? anything would help really.

Let's see....When I was in 4th grade, I was bit across the face by a Siberian Husky. I find that pretty tempermental behavior.

Sibes are very strong willed dogs. So, if you don't have a lot of time ( and I stress A LOT OF TIME) they probably are not the right dog for you. A dogs temperament is generally what YOU make it. With lots of exercise they will be calm even as pups. However, like I said they are strong willed and WILL (not might) try to run the show, you have to show them who's boss. They are very territorial dogs as well so they make good guard dogs. If other people invade there space they may be bitten. Which is what most likely happened to stupidkid.

As far as your boy girl question. It really wont matter if they are spayed or neutered (which a lot of the time is a purchase requirement with breeders). If not though 2 girls, or a boy and a girl, and even then you have to watch them while they are in heat because they will procreate even if they are brother and sister.

Also, they require daily grooming and have a lot of hair. These dogs will get very hot very fast in a warm climate. However, it is acceptable to have them short cut as it's called (but that may take away the look of the dog you wanted). But, you live on the Carolina coast so there's always the beach B) not to mention you guys have a semi winter there so they shouldn't be that uncomfortable with a short cut.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Huskies need a real shitload of time. They need to be taken outside for hours a day if you want to be a good owner. They have a lot of energy and need to "work" a lot.
A Husky staying in a home will not be happy. They are no puppet dogs. I always wanted to have one because they are gorgeous, but I never will have enough time for the dog to do it justice.

I'll have plenty of time. The only shit part is since I'm saving money to put a down payment on a house, I'm going to be in an apartment.

I figure I should wait till I have an actual yard. I hear they need A LOT of room.

Yes, I would wait they are not good apartment dogs. You have to remember that they are working dogs so even though you wont have them working thats what there drive is going to be.

Yes, I would say that's along the lines of them not properly socializing the dog with children and you being on the floor would have initiated the territorial behavior. Im sorry to hear that happened to you, are you afraid of dogs now? I have been bitten 3 times, all by "nice" pitbull's, which is the reason I am a strong advocate against them.

You have to brush them everyday and really take care of them.
Get a black lab, or an english mastiff.

I had to get Pet Food today for my Sister's Iguana. And I fell head over heels for a Chocolate Lab puppy.
