Have to admit the smartest and most gentle dog I ever owned was a black chowchow named Baby. As long as you dont keep them on a chain they are not near as agressive, and make loyal companions.
Def recomend chows to anyone who will show them love and loyalty, you wont be disaponted. Also females are usually less agressive than males unless you breed them.
