A wild cat at my grandmothers had her litter on this old tarp above some farm equipment. The tarp was rotted and had some big holes in it. One kittin fell through and died, the other 2 got strangled in the plastic strings. one of them died and my grandma saved the other one. She figured that the mother would come back for it so she wrapped it in a towel and left it out in the barn for the mother. That was yesterday. We haven't seen to mother since and the kitten was abandoned, so My gandmother took it in. We went to walmart and got some milk specificlly for abandoned kittens, and a feeder bottle. Well Since shes allergic I told her I would take it home for tonight. I got home and hooked up the heating pad (it was set to very low, and there was barely any heat so it didn't accidently get burned). I was on the phone with my friend asking him if once it got bigger if he would want it, and was watching him crawl around. I saw him trying to suckle on a fold of the blanket, so I went to the kitchen to get his milk out of the fridge and put the bottle in a glass of warm water to heat it up. I came back 5 mins later, picked it up and it was limp. I figured it was asleep so I tried to wake it up but I cant wake it up.
I would automatically assume its dead, but I called my grandmother and she said it did that 3 times to her, and it woke up about 15 mins later. Well that was almost an hour ago, and it hasn't moved. Does anyone know if kittens do this regularly, and if its dead or not. It is about 4 1/2 inches long, it's eyes are still closed and the umbillical cord is still attached. It crapped on my hands when I held it earlier, and it took a piss aswell. I don't see how it could have possibbly died if it was so full of energy still, and wasn't particularly skinny.
I'm not a cat person so any help would be very much appreciated
*edit* I just found out it was born prematurely, so I guess thats why its dead
