I disagree with declawing cats as well, really serves no purpose whatsoever. In addition, claws are a defensive weapon that cats use, if they are declawed they are more vulnerable to attack (if let outside or such) and are much more likely to bite if they feel threatened, as their primary mode of getting something/one to back off is gone.

I understand not declawing cats if they are outdoors or indoors/outdoors cats, but i see no reason to not declaw an indoor cat. My wife is opposed to declawing and since it was her cat before we got married she has the final say. But im not fond of the claw marks on the sofa and such thats for sure.

its simply a mutilation for the convenience of the owner
i just hope my cat isnt in pain after the first few days (the vet keeps him for 2 days after the surgery to make sure all is well)

my cat is an indoor cat but im opposed to it because of the stuff that accompanies declawing
phantom pain
nerve damage
everything you dont wanna see your lil buddy go through :(

yeah its just terrible :/
its even worse when you cant do anything about it
im really hoping my cat adapts to the softpaws caps he has right now so he doesnt have to be declawed
especially because hes 4 years old! :(

ok well I have to agree that a 4 year old cat shouldnt go through that. Its something you need to do as a kitten or dont do it at all

that's so late to declaw =\
I thought about declawing my cat when I first got her but decided not to. The claw marks can be a pain, but the negatives outweigh the positives of declawing imo.

I'm not a cat person. I used to have one when I lived in hawaii when I was younger.
Later found a cat in the parking lot outside of our apartment complex and adopted him.
Since then it's always been dogs. But one thing that has remained constant is that I despise people who declaw their cats.
It's on par with those barbarians that debark their dogs.

Has it happened yet? because there are cheaper and healthier alternatives.
Or are your parents just lazy as shit?
I wouldn't be able to forgive my parents or friends or family if they did this to their cat.
