Had to put my 7 year old Ozzy down last night at 4am
He was congested the day before but still running around but he let out a very weird screech and I took him the vet immediately where they told me his lungs were full of fluid and he either had late stage cancer or heart disease and if I kept him overnight he more than likely would of passed but I’m glad I could end his suffering and hopefully I made it easier on him   he was the bestest boy and a greatest companion

So sorry to hear the bad news
And such a young age at that

Tldr: euthanasia is the answer
In the last 4 years i let go of 2 dogs
The first one got euthanasia because we couldnt stand watching her in pain, bleeding in her mouth and all
The second one stayed with us as long as possible even when she was at the point of not being able to move, because we felt like we let go of our first dog too early, and hard to explain
She eventually passed away in our arms (lucky we were present in her ending)
We cried a river, seeing her in SO much suffering and pain in her last moments
After that incident we will always use euthanasia

So what you did was right in my opinion
Hope youre doing alright xPailess

Thank you guys this was my first pet I could actually call
My own. He was absolutely my best friend, hung out with me every single night waited outside the bathroom and followed me everywhere and was always very skiddish. He only trusted me in my household to hold him and would sleep with me every night.

I’m truly heart broken and lost for words.

I’m going to a local rescue/pound this weekend to adopt a new family member potentially. I absolutely love having a companion by my side and would love to start another one with a new baby who needs a loving home.

Thank you bumi, The Same day my grandfather passed in hospice as well, they say death comes in pairs and I was ill prepared and bawled my eyes out holding my ozzman. The doctor said his heart chamber was twice the normal size and it was a sign of heart disease. I asked her what her opinion on the situation was and she basically told me she can save him for maybe a couple months but the cost would be over 5000$ out right. Then she also said that even if we did all that work there was no promise that he wouldn’t pass tonight because his heart was so weak. His lungs were full of fluid and she also said he was basically drowning and to prolong it is only making it worse for him and he wouldn’t be the same after treatment.
