Husky and Shepard  mix.  Blue eyes are recessive, and that's just the way his genetic dice rolled.

Every animal I've owned has been a rescue or offspring of rescues and I don't ever plan on changing that.

My rottweiler lab mix I had prior to these two was a rescue at the vet, someone just abandoned a litter of puppies.
My dad saw the post in the penny saver and stopped by the vet and picked up the last pup, the runt of the litter.

My staffordshire mix is the offspring of two rescues. My uncle rescued them and I got one of the puppies.

My rat terrier mix was a rescue, someone dumped her and her brother in a dumpster in a trash bag.
One of my mother's coworker's kid and his friend found the dogs and kept them,
the friend got one dog, he got the other, the he went away to college and the dog stayed,
the coworker couldn't keep up with them so my mom asked me if I wanted another dog.

I'm looking to get a third dog, the vet usually keeps me posted when puppies get dropped off.

the two dogs i currently have weren't bought, but taken off someone's hands who was moving and they had too much anxiety to travel long distances in a car; not sure if you'd consider that rescuing

my favorite two dogs were rescued racers. i miss those greyhounds
i still have their collars/tags/leashes in my room

yay more fools that think rescuing makes them a saint.

do a little research and you will quickly find that rescuing is not necessarilly the best choice, you will also find that lately many rescue organizations are actually paying puppy mills for puppies in bulk as well as exploring having shelter workers welp litters of puppies for sale.
it is a big money business that has strayed far from its original purpose.
that being said, not all rescue organizations are like this, just like not all "breeders" are bad.

More about educating yourself about what you are getting involved with and which option might be best for you.

They definitely dont need to be buying anything from puppy mills when they can barely keep up with demand as it is.
I volunteer at local SPCA and humane society shops on a regular basis. Not sure what fucked up individuals youve encountered in your travels but if what you say is true - castrate them :|

Anybody that runs a puppy mill should be killed, inhumanely, and very painfully.

the SPCA is one of these slimeball organizations that is just making money.
they are purposely vying for puppies because puppies sell. they dont want and wont take older dogs, or rush to euthanize them.
currently they are importing dogs from out of country bringing a new influx of diseases to the country.
they also ship 500+ dogs in tractor trailers from the south up to the north east states where there is not such an abundance of shelter dogs.
And yes, they should be castrated. But unfortunately they market well and individuals such as yourself are not informed of what is really going on, so while you are trying to help in a noble cause, you are actually only perpetuating the cycle and helping these shitties make hand over fist $$$$$.

Take a look at their money. You will see almost none if it actually goes to helping animals.

...The only SPCAs ive dealt with are no kill shelters that take on any animal, regardless of age, and find foster homes for as many as possible when over crowded.
But sure, what you said.
