If you didn't declaw him (and you shouldn't) you can make an enormous cat post/condo really cheaply by getting some scraps of wood from home depot or lowes or any lumber company near you, and some carpet remnants. Just fashion them into any type of vertical post and if you just rub his feet on it when you catch him scratching something you don't want him to he'll get the hint quickly. It'll really keep him from shredding your furniture.
