there is a lot of confusion about dog breeds being hypoallergenic or not
while there is a huge difference between how much hair different breeds shed
the allergic reaction does not actually come from the hair but rather the saliva
yes, more hair shed can play a role because dogs lick their fur
but one lick on the hands or on the face is worse than touching a few hairs
(for people who are susceptible to that allergy that is)

yeah, this is true but it also has to do with the dog's dead skin cells and its natural dog smell, if that is a trigger. it depends what your allergy triggers are. hypoallergenic dogs are just less likely to trigger your allergies. i have a poodle but she used to give me triggers when i first got her because i wasn't used to her yet. however, she is trained not to lick people so she has an even less chance to trigger me. poodles are always good for me because they don't really shed.

you should get a harness for your dog if he pulls his leash a lot, he is cute but you don't want to hurt his throat! my cousin's dog had his throat red and scratched up on the outside because of so much pulling

haven't heard of allergy to the dog's smell and i suspect it not to be that common (but smells can certainly put you off, why not cause allergies)
the skin cells are just another form to transport the dog's saliva

good you were able to train your dog to avoid triggering your allergy, couldn't imagine how it would be not being able to have a dog
