You know I asked about raw feeding when this sub forum opened up and basically no replies. I have a 3 y/o Siberian Husky. I've been interested in feeding him raw and sometimes I'll toss him some raw tilapia which he absolutely loves but I'm still stuck feeding him mainly Candidae and Taste of the Wild (which are at least high quality dry foods). Do you guys go to a local butcher for this stuff?

He's in this thread if you wanna see pics. The American Bulldog is my roommates and the other is my gf's.

Raw food is better for dogs than kibble. Try your Husky with chicken wings or chicken quarters, My sibe has been eating chicken wings since he was 6 weeks old. People are nervous about bones but aslong as its not cooked it wont splinter. Im not sure how other dog breeds are with chicken wings but everyone i know with a husky says there dogs loves them and they eat the bone too so dont worry.

Cute dog dude. The kibble you feed him isnt that high energy stuff? Unless you mush with the dog i would suggest a normal energy brand. I used to use Jameswelbeloved but i found out only people who use the dog for races ect use that brand.

My Sibe

Yeah I've done a lot of research into raw food and checked out several forums. I'll admit that despite hundreds of people saying they've never had a problem with their dog and bones it was still a worry for me. I suppose I'll keep an eye out for some chicken wings and see how that goes. My main problem is finding a place that carries everything I want for him. He seems to do well energy wise with the dry food though. I just made sure that if I am going to feed him kibble it might as well be high quality. He's surprisingly laid back. Do you get your food straight from the butcher or find it in the grocery store?

I get them some bones frtom the butcher every 2 days or so, I give them kibble + raw chicken from whatever shop is close hehe.

You can try a chicken wings to see how it goes, The nbones are really weak so its not gonna be a problem unless your dogs tries to swallow it whole hehe. The breeder i got mine from races her 7 dogs and they eat chicken wings and started my dog on them early.

I've actually tried giving him chicken and bone before and he took it out of the bowl, licked it, and walked away lol. I gave it another shot today with some chicken wings and the same thing happened. I dunno if he just plain doesn't like the texture or taste of chicken or what. He has gone nuts for fish and occasionally if I'm feeling generous I throw him a steak.

Just the usual awkwardness of feeding a Husky lol.Yeh my dog loves fish aswell, As soon as he see's it he goes crazy for it. You could try some chicken breasts, Chop it up and give little bits at a time.

Some fish, I think salmon, can carry a parasite that's very bad for dogs. I think if you feed salmon you're supposed to freeze it for at least 1 month to kill the parasite.
