I have a couple miniature poodles. They are very good dogs and no shedding :)

im a fan of goldens since i always grew up with em, however my friend actually got me onto tollers. females are expected to be 35-50 lbs though, and im guessing the apartment limit is probably 30 lbs? if not i would maybe looking at getting a female toller :P

also, if you are signing the lease, you can always try talking to em about exceptions, but they may not budge. if not, you can always get a smaller dog than ;o

I think the limit is 30 with no exceptions.

Do most small dogs tend to bark a lot or are there some breeds that are more apt to be quiet?

It has to be a small dog since apartment only allows small dogs, what are some good suggestions?

since you are living in an apartment you should get a non-barking breed
while many if not most small dog breeds are compulsive barkers/jappers (especially the various terrier breeds) there are some exceptions
(cavalier) king charles or other small spaniel breeds, small poodle breeds, most dachshounds come to mind
be sure you check up on the breed details before you get one (the fci website is very good with information)

my favourite small dog would be a tri-colour cavalier king charles
but one has to be careful to find a good breeder, many of them have skull deformation

ps: hadn't read your post #27, just answered to the op but seemingly covered your concerns

Do most small breeds cost around the same for food, toys, vaccinations, etc?
