If the vet wants to do a bunch of bloodwork/urine testing to start you can suggest doing just a run of antibiotics first to see if that clears it up.
They are inexpensive (our last was like 25$ for 14 days of pills) and if it is a bladder infection will clear it up.
Blood tests are 80$ and urine analysis was 60$ so it was a money saver.
