Don't worry you are doing it right, it just takes time to kill them. (Because if you buy bomb which doesen't kill eggs, they hatch and you have to do it over and over again) You better continue the process, and as mentioned Frontline your cats. Once I had this problem too, it was a horror....

flea eggs can be dormant for years in your carpet until they come in contact with what they need to hatch.
It's why Vet's will tell you to use a flea treatment every summer to prevent fleas from getting on your animals and eating blood.
But a flea can also survive off human blood too.
Kill the live ones, vacuum with a good vacuum. Not one you get at Walmart.
Flea treatment until you see no more fleas. Then in the summer do it again.
It takes time there is no one way to get rid of fleas because of their ability to be dormant for years.

Frontline plus works amazing. Nothing else I've ever tried even comes close. Once the fleas bite the cat they die. Their eggs die. The fleas in the carpet get on the cat bite it and yep, they die.

Advantage, Advantix, and all that other crap is nowhere near as good as Frontline Plus
