maybe it doesn't hinder physical growth but will have a mental impact
since you mention flight, there is a reason for the recommended size

why use crates for anything else than transport? do you hate your pets?

crates are important for a dog it gives them a place to go if they wanna be alone and rest or get away from annoying house guests...
my dogs love their "bed" they chill in it all the time i dont even have to close the door ne more wen i tell them go to bed they just go lay down and chill
and at nite thats where they sleep by choice i dont make them. and actually wen we go in the car i dont crate them at all lol they love car rides...

yes



there are other options than crates (which tend to expose pets to bad weather conditions) for the outside
and inside the house a nice dog bed will do ie no need for a crate either
did i say that crates have to be used for transport? try reading it again and you will notice that i didn't forbid transporting a pet another way
and yes, i grew up with plenty dogs and we have our own as well (large dog living in the house)
