I just adopted a 3 y/o husky and the person I adopted from said you may want to consider feeding him raw. Anyone have any experience feeding their dogs raw meat and organs? I've been reading up a lot about it and seen some really positive stuff as opposed to feeding any type of dry dog food. So, anyone with some legit and knowledgeable experience?

it depends on the dog, some like raw meat and can easily digest it while others have problems
eg mine loves raw meat but apart from a small treat of it he will get diarrhoea
but when i was a kid we had a bitch who loved raw mince with egg yolk and she was fine with it
just be careful with chicken bones and skin, the bones can perforate the stomach and the skin can cause diarrhoea

i have a husky and he has been eating raw chicken wings since he was 6 weeks old ( eats the bone too ofc ). just make sure you never cook the bone or it will splinter and choke your dog or cut the inside of its throat.

You should make your dog a kidney pie, the crappy kidney the 1 no1 eats, the pie will stink but your dog will go crazy for it.

dont use wet dog food its complete rubbish, if you take your dog out for huge runs use kibble brand jameswellbeloved they are great for high energy dogs if he just gets average walks n runs use almost any other type of dry kibble. also just so you know they are really picky eaters and dont eat much at all, thwey eat when they are hungry but dont eat too much like all dogs do.

My husky is nearly 3, check my pics to seee him.

all chicken bones are risky and good vets will advise against them
and there are other breeds of dogs which are not as greedy as the majority of breeds
eg many of the larger gundog breeds
but when they really like the taste they might eat plenty one day but cut back the next

vets are useless when it comes to a husky because they are noi the basic domestic dog. chicken wings and chicken quaters are perfectly fine for a husky as they are suck heavy chewers. my dog has broke several cows bones in half just by constant cheweing so a simple chicken wing bone is crushed with no problems of choking.

A husky is completely different from all breeds of domestic dogs, a domestic dog would see food and eat it because its bored a husky would on eat when he is hungry and willl not over eat. your last point is true, sometimes they et lots and rarely eat the next few days.

So chicken wings and chicken quaters are a good treat for your dog, if you dont want to give him a bone he can crush and eat then you can just give him raw meat, give small bits so his digestive system gets used to what he is eating and if you feel like spoiling your dog make him a liver pie, i cant remember what animal liver it is but its the 1 people dont eat, the pie will really stink but your dog will love it.

many dog breeds can easily crush heavy cow (or other) bones but that does not mean that chicken bones when they splinter do not represent a danger
go ahead and feed your dog chicken bones, you might be lucky and never anything happens

and no, huskies are not that completely different from other dog breeds
perhaps you should inform yourself a little better about other dog breeds

and again, most pointing dog breeds are not liable to overeating
you will rarely see an overweight pointing dog (which is not desexed)
my dog has always food standing ready for him to eat and he is not overweight

the bones will only splinter if they are cooked so if they are raw they are fine. im not meaning the can destroy bones easy since there jaws arent that powerfull just sayin they will chew non stop for hours.
Husky is a brand new domestic dog, they have an extremely high prey instinct. can run for 12 hours without a break rest for 5 mins and go again, perhaps you should do some research on the husky breed.

dogs being overweight is mainly because a lack of proper walks / runs, a lot of breeds are greedy and a lot are not but the only breed we are talking about is a husky ( malamute or sibe? )

please do more research about dogs and dog hierarchy. By reading this post, I assume that you spoil your dog (if you own one).

you never saw a splintered raw chicken bone?
just try bending them a bit with a little force

huskies have come to the usa not that long ago
but have a guess for how long they have been domestic dogs in siberia

not sure why i would need to do more research about dogs and dog hierarchy
spoiling (to a certain degree) a dog is not harmful
and yes, we (ie my wife and myself) own a dog
who is well behaved, generally friendly, cautious of strangers (breed characteristic) and knows his place in the hierarchy

can i from your comment assume that you favour dogs which need to be under total control? i would never own a dog like that
