So my yellow lab, Charlie, has just turned 4 years of age. He's a very hyper and energetic dog. I take him for long walks every day along with play with him outside (or inside weather permitting) every day for a couple hours. Even after trying to tire him out, he still thinks it's fun to take the pool balls off the pool table... He doesn't normally "counter surf" around the house, it's really only downstairs at the pool table.

He'll take a ball, and if we don't try and get it from him, he'll throw it back on the table and grab a different one.

Any ideas how to get him to stop doing this?

*Note. He's not food motivated at all and he is toy motivated but he will do almost anything for attention. He still has yet to go after anything on the counters like bread or anything. ONLY the pool table...

*Note2. He loves any round object as well...

Pop can with rocks in it. I don't know why, but it scares the shit out of dogs when you shake it. Only do it when he does something 'bad' just a couple shakes. He will learn fast.

Thanks! I just read up on pennies in an empty soda can as a shaker :)

I'll be trying this on Friday when I have friends over to play pool! I'll post the results then!

watch him do it and when he does give him a good old fashioned smack on the ass yell at him be stern. NO CHARLIE, BAD.

or you could take the balls off the table and not let him inside the house...

worst advice... I'm having a couple friends over tonight and I made some shake cans to put around the table for when he jumps up. I'm hoping by the end of the night he won't jump up anymore :)

Need to let him know he aint allowed to jump up on it, Just a short sharp noise to distract him will do the trick ( try make the noise as he is about to jump up, catch it early on )

A noise as distractin as a squeaky toy but ofc not 1, Sayin shhh can work aslong as you say it short n sharp, All it does is distracts the dog from what it was doin.
