everyone in my family is heart broken...
my mom couldnt stop crying.
how do you get over this tragic event?

I didn't.
took me several years to even want to be around another dog.

One day I came across a picture similar to this.

I lost a cat that was crushed by a car, I think the best advice is to mourn them for a week or two out of respect for him/her and then take another one if you can...

My dog died of car crash several month ago, I took a new one 1 month later, couldn't live without a dog around me.

don't allow the grievance period to drag on too long
good to get another dog who will have another personallity
every dog is unique and while you cannot replace a loved pet
you can add another one
