1. My dog is eating his poop and its disgusting. Anything i can do to stop this ?

He never had this problem before, but its his forst winter so i guessing he cant smellthe poop and thats why hes eating it, idk... He eats everything he see.

Hes almost 1 year old ( in 2 weeks ), hes a lab, hes currently on a diet but thats not why.

Its my first dog so i dont realy know what to do ( i was reading lots of things about this on internet, alot of solution, but not all the solution are working im guessing.

2. Also, like i said, hes eating everything... He eats the wall, the floor, the chairs, well, everything but his toys and bones :). Hes cute and funny but he probably did for 2000$ damages yet...in a year... Is every dog like this when young ?

3. Also, my dog is always in his cage when im not home or when im sleeping ( to prevent destroying the house ). ( Some told me that its a bad way to do, but most specialist told me that its the best way, cause they feel in security ). What temperatures should the room be at ? His cage is in the garage, so its hot the summer and cold the winter.

4. While his in his cage, i put the radio on so he can feel like hes not alone ( a friend told me to do this ). Is it a good idea ? Ofc im not turning the volume to max... Just like 2/50, so he can hear something. Should i just turn it off ?

5. When im taking a walk with my dog, he need to take the leash with hos mouth if he want to walk without moving everywhere.

6. Hes also biting everyone. Idk if he thinks its a game or anything, but its annoying when my friends or family come to my house and i need to put my dog in his cage cause he keep hurting everyone :(. I believe it can take a year or two before he stop this, but lmk.

Sorry for my bad english, and if you have/had any experience like this with your dog, please let me know a solution or just share with me :).

His name is Charlie, i will post pictures of him as soon as i can

1 just tell ur dog no bad boy and spray with a water sprayer or get a shock collar or pull him away from poop or take him somewhere he hasnt gone or just clean up poop after he poops becuz ur dog can get sick n die if it eat "bad" poop
2 samething as in 1 but he wont die lol...
3 keep them cage when ur not home is good now i have mine in my house like have it in the kitchen or living room if u cant do that then less leave alot of water so ur dog does over heat and die
4 i did that for my dogs when they were puppys i dont see anything wrong if u do or dont
5 get a hardness then that might fix that problem
6 tell him no bad boy and put in the cage for 10-20 mins dont say anything to ur dog and pay no mind to him then let him out and do it over n over till he learns now if there is a area like he does it by the front door when people come in then give him a treat everytime he doesnt bit someone becuz u can be sued for ur dog even tearing up someone else shoes

hopes this helps u with ur dog

If you plan on crating your pet during the day using the crate as a form of punishment is a terrible idea. He'll be convinced that he's done something wrong when you leave for work and have to crate him.

It astounds me what little knowledge people giving advice have.

You need to exercise your dog... Remember a tired dog is a good dog....

1. My dog is eating his poop and its disgusting. Anything i can do to stop this ? Yes, pickup the sh!t and he wont be eating it

He never had this problem before, but its his forst winter so i guessing he cant smellthe poop and thats why hes eating it, idk... He eats everything he see.

Hes almost 1 year old ( in 2 weeks ), hes a lab, hes currently on a diet but thats not why.

2. Also, like i said, hes eating everything... He eats the wall, the floor, the chairs, well, everything but his toys and bones :). Hes cute and funny but he probably did for 2000$ damages yet...in a year... Is every dog like this when young ? Not a tired one, you have a young dog with a lot of energy, drain the energy

If he is in the garage, you can't monitor the temp. Room temp would be ideal and you should have him crated inside the house

4. While his in his cage, i put the radio on so he can feel like hes not alone ( a friend told me to do this ). Is it a good idea ? Ofc im not turning the volume to max... Just like 2/50, so he can hear something. Should i just turn it off ? Leaving it on is fine, some enjoy it some dont care

5. When im taking a walk with my dog, he need to take the leash with hos mouth if he want to walk without moving everywhere. He's a lab, it's nature to him. Is he pulling it with his mouth while you walk or is it just in his mouth with a loose leash.

6. Hes also biting everyone. Idk if he thinks its a game or anything, but its annoying when my friends or family come to my house and i need to put my dog in his cage cause he keep hurting everyone :(. I believe it can take a year or two before he stop this, but lmk. How hard? Play bites, nips, full on bites?A tired dog is a good dog, exercise him and train him everyday.

Question 1.
good way yes is to pick the stool up. There are other ways but the easiest/quickest way to fix this is to pick it up.
If you don't like that well... Train him to go potty on leash and don't allow him to eat the stool by walking him away after he's done... But if it's in a public place you should always be picking the stool up.

Question 2.
It's not just when they're young. Your dog is full of energy and needs exercise period. Depending on the breed it could be a 30min walk in the morning/night. Or it could need more. A young lab needs about 30-40mins of walking in the morning and the evening.
But that doesn't mean a physically tired dog is going to stop from chewing/doing damage to the house. A dog also needs to be mentally drained. There are plenty of challenging toys out there a dog can give their mind a workout.
Kongs work.. Also can hide treats inside the house, having the dog find them. (will take a few times of showing the dog what you want)

Question 3.
Do not use the crate as punishment period like the other poster said. Bad idea will create anxiety for the dog which will lead to destruction of the crate and possible injury to your dog.
Leaving music on is fine, but before you go to work/sleep/out of the house. Should be taking the dog on a walk to exercise him. Drain him of his energy. Move the crated dog inside to room temperature or get a kennel for him to stay in outdoors with a dog house. But this is a pet not a working dog right? Indoors crated.

Question 4. Music can help dogs but as I said before exercise will help him the most.

Question 5. Get a head halter/gentle leader. And consult a professional dog trainer in your state on proper ways to use it.(if your in the states petsmart trainers should know how to use it properly) If you do a heavy leash correction you can injure the dog. But it's the safest/humane way to lead a dog.

Question 6. Your dog is excited when guests arrive. You need to de-sensitize your dog to this, as a big lab can really hurt someone.
It can be a hassle but every time you have guests put the gentle leader on your dog and instruct him to sit/stay.(hang it on a wall by the door for easy access)
Practice with people knocking on the door while your dog remains in the sit position(treat him when he remains in the sit position.
Open the door, if he doesn't stay sitting.. shut it.
Give your dog the no reward marker command(eh-eh) or (No) remove all attention from the dog(turn around) wait 5 seconds and repeat the exercise until he gets it correctly, and treat him when he does.
Also have your guests to practice not acknowledging the dog.(no touch no talk no eye contact) Once the dog has calmed down then they can great him.
Doing that will teach the dog staying relaxed gets him the reward of attention.
All he wants is attention, he's excited! new person! yay!

Sucks to say this but... You are a bad dog owner:(

Keep him in a cage all day lol... What a life. Labs need LOTS of room.

Give him away to someone who can provide for him.

IIRC eating poop can be a sign of worms?
