I use this. The pic shows the green maxx scoop but I use the pink one. Litter box is in my room and smell is not noticeable at all (I scoop every 3-4 days). I haven't tried any super high quality brands though.

There's a good version of Fresh Step and a fucking horrible version. The good kind is

Been using it for a long time now and there's no smell.
The horrible kind is the Clay kind. I tried this once and was blown away how awful it was. I can't even believe they allowed it to be sold to the public. It REEKED of urine.

Get the brand World's Best Cat Litter. Nicest one IMO. I have two ex-shelter cats and the box goes for a month (with regular cleanings) without smelling like anything unless you bury your nose in it. It's also flushable, too.

Arm and Hammer brand seems to be the best IMO. The urine clumps on the surface where you can remove it with the scraper, instead of pooling on the bottom of the box, stinking up the joint. There are lots of different versions of it like extra strength or multiple cat and I can't tell the difference between them. Just buy the one that is on sale.

Been using this for 4 years. I have two cats that always have a full dish a food so they shit a lot. Clean the liter box 1 or 2 times a day. Never had a problem.
