heres a quik read that will shut you up. now dont ever put the word capacitor and car audio together in a sentence on this forum, giving false information to people is not needed. its best to just shut your mouth and not ruin someones car audio gear.

Saved me some cash man looks like it's gonna be a Big 3 upgrade for meee.

you dont ever want to put a cap in your car. it robs yopur amp of power. its not a battery. you can put a 1 million farad cap in your carand it wont justify your doing.
your better off with big 3 upgrade first. dont cut original wires. just add zero guage as well. leave old wires still attacked just do 2nd runs of everything.

depending on how many watts your running you may need a better alt.
adding a battery may help but its hit or miss. it may even cause more probems if your alt is not big enough to supply 2 batteries.

People with big systems chasing big numbers have great success with cap banks. Realistically caps are a bad thing but can have a use. Generally speaking people that buy/use caps have relatively small systems so the damage done is minimal and all they are really after ia getting their lights to stop flickering. So really it's a worthless piece of equipment but can serve a purpose with no real harm done.

your talkin about db drags? if then yea. other than that they serve no purpose but to rob your amp of powa! lol

what im trying to get at is i see a LOT of people saying oh i need a cap because this and that , when in reality they need the big 3 and better alt. most people who are runnin new setups(noobies) have older cars with under 90 amp alts that have power options. then they get into trouble . caps arent meant for that application.

Caps arent at all a waste of money. They arent worthless. If they were, they wouldnt make/sell them. A cap stores power and releases it in high demand applications. Your car battery is NOT designed at all for such high discharge rates. It will destroy your battery sooner or later. A cap IS designed for high discharge rates when used in the right application.
Before adding a cap, if adding one at all, you MUST upgrade the " Big 3 ", upgrade stock alternator, and purchase a battery designed for a high discharge rate; such as XS . I also suggest adding a second battery to your vehicle before installing a cap.

Im not getting into details or an argument with " self-taught audiophiles ". Ive been a car stereo technician for my local shop for a little over 11 years. Also, im an Audio Engineer with my Bachelors in Audio Science. Before switching to car audio, i studied Home Theatre and installed quite a few VERY high end systems for doctors for 2 years. On a side note, ive only ever found the need to install a cap two times in my 11+ year career.

Not here to argue, so i wont entertain ignorant replies. If youd like to have an actual conversation, im more than happy to reply with my knowledge.

Also, not everyone understands car audio and capacitors. Take it easy on them and explain it more thoroughly instead of telling them to " shut their mouth" and calling them " stupid " . Its not a big deal to anyone what someone else thinks, wether its false or not. Just makes you look ignorant and rude.
