The dealer I'm going through is suggesting the Massive D3600 Amp: http://www.amazon.com/Massive-Audio-3600-Block-Amplifier/dp/B00443INRG ofc he is trying to sell it to me for $700 which isn't happening but was wondering if the amp is a good fit for the W7 ?

why would you buy a $1000 sub and then cheap out on an amp? that amp would ruin the only upsides of that subwoofer which is sound quality.

do you have the electrical system to run 1500rms watts?
if you don't know this then you're probably looking at another $300-500 to even let your car run this sub

and going with this subwoofer is more trouble than its worth. those 1.5 ohm coils cause some issues with power matching since most amps don't test .75ohm or 3 ohm ratings.

I will be paying for the install and they checked my car out and said nothing about requiring an upgrade to my electrical system

My car is a 2014 challenger sxt plus if that helps.

Not sure if you are saying if the amp I linked was cheap or the one recommended by mentalgiant is cheap

The price they wanted for everything was 2495

1295 for the sub
699 for the amp
the rest is the install and case.

Anyways I was willing to spend 2495 on it all, I just wanted to see if the amp is a good match. If so I could save $400. If not then I don't mind spending more for an amp that is better

Thanks for replies

would you consider going a different route? i mean they are good subs but $1000-1300 for them is on the pointlessly expensive side.

your alternator should handle it but you'll need to do big 3 upgrade to be sure there aren't any bottlenecks in your wiring.

tbh i think you'd be much better off getting away from overpriced and annoying jl audio subs.

http://store.ficaraudio.com/ has tons of great options that even if they fail you can rebuild for a fraction of the price instead of needing to buy a whole new subwoofer as well as being top of the line quality and performance with tons of customization options.

i know being new to this you are thinking "jl is the best that's what i've been told" but this simply isn't true. jl has a terrible price:performance ratio so even with their sound quality upsides you could of just went with another brand and got the same end result for half the price.

A different route is definitely on the table. This is just the "best" the dealer offered. The biggest problem though is that I live in Guam and generally subwoofers simply can't be shipped here. For that reason I have been pretty much limited to what is offered in dealers. Pretty much the second best offer was 2 12" Rockford P3 Subs & Massive Audio 2400 Watt Amp. I have checked other dealers but this one seems to be the best and looks the least sketchy on Guam.

tbh I'd rather be able to spend $1000 on a Digital Design Sub since I heard they are priced because of being the best and although jl is good they are overpriced because they are "commercial"

fi has some ridiculous subs. Didn't even know a single sub could be rated with 4000 RMS lol

@fi it seems i simply couldn't spend a lot since all there expensive ones are rated at ridiculous RMS that would most likely require electrical upgrades lol

If your going with the w7 then buy a soundqubed 1200 on a Crescendo 1500. 1000 rms is really all the w7 can handle you don't need a big crazy amp.

I don't know what most of these people are talking about... W7's are great woofers and handle 1600rms NOT 1000.
Get a nice 1500w or 2000w amplifier and call it a day.
