I have 2 12" MTX Terminator/box and a 500 watt amp. Box is not ported and I want it louder. What would work? Port box/ bigger amp? Would it even sound good lol?

everything replaced pretty much.

i assume you bought one of those mtx "pass packs" in which case you can't go bigger amp because that amp was matched perfectly power wise to the subs.

a ported box would make it somewhat louder/sound different. if you want louder you have to switch up the whole system

I would recommend a different approach.....

Port the back dash to allow more airflow from the trunk into the car, this will make it louder. just takes a bit of effort on your part to do good work.

porting your box will be louder but your bass will sound a LOT sloppier, it will change your entire tuning frequency which will make it sound like shit and youd probably regret it
first, id go for a stronger amp as those subs can take 200 watts rms and 600 watts peak

WHAT!?!?! This kid is retarded . Yea it will make it sound different and yes it will make it louder. But that is why you tune the box to a certain htz that you like. You can get good sounding ported bass that isn't sloppy with the right custom made box and good equipment. Don't post shit if you don't know what the hell your talking about. Your probably the type of person that has opinions on shit they have never experienced. Stick to your best buy setups. And keep quiet.

Thinking the same thing... I got a custom ported box tuned to 34hz and I love the output with all the music I listen to.

Back in the day when I drove a 98 Silverado I made a box and tuned it to 20hz with 2 p3 15" rockfords. Man that thing shook everything.
