What's up everyone, today I want to talk about an issue that I have been dealing with my car for about a year. I haven't had a "working" stereo in what seems to be a year and I'm ready to fix it. Let me break it down:

I bought the car used, and managed to pick up some very nice sub woofers from a good friend of mine for cheap and learned about the hell of wiring within the Saab 9-3. They use Fiber optics which made it pretty difficult to install the sub woofers. So what I did was decided to run a wire from the battery all the way to the trunk to power the sub woofers. When I disconnected the battery the first time trying to connect the subs and then reconnected it, something went wrong. The radio would not turn on, so I drove without the radio for about 5 months and then I finally sent it to the dealership to see what was going on. It turns out the amp under the driver seat was bad and the dealer took it out and bypassed everything to the other amp in the car to make it work. Great! I had my radio back. Then I decided to try to hook up my subs for a second time. Here's where things start to get gray for me. I got the subs hooked up by splicing the wires from the bass speakers in my trunk and I'm using an RC converter box with a 1000 watt amp. It's hell for wiring but I managed to get it to work. The radio and subs work but there are problems. The first problem that is most noticeable and annoying is the fact that my speakers have a crackle sound to them. Turning the car on you don't hear the crackle, but when you turn up the volume to that song you want to hear or just have the radio on for around 15-20 minutes, it will start to crackle and it drives me nuts!!! The next problem is I know for a fact the subs aren't bumping as hard as they could. There are certain times, and it's very weird, where I can hear the subs bump REALLY loud and then it's almost as if they just lose all the bass it had and it goes to a low, not very strong bump. Certain songs play better than others, but over all I just want to have a stereo system that works with no crackles and with the bass that you want to hear when you have sub woofers. If anyone could help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm willing to try anything to get this to work!

do yourself a favor and just rewire the car. its time consuming but getting away from that fiber optic shit is worth it.

all you have to do is run speaker wire to the door speakers, a few wires from the battery to under the dash and then you have a normally wired stereo.

by speakers do you meant he subs or the door speakers? if its door speakers they most likely need replaced. if its the subs then you need to start by making sure everything is actually in working order.

for example: the sub box is the right size, the amp settings are correct, the wiring is done correctly and not loose.

the up and down nature of the bass could be poor signal, lack of power, amplifier settings being wrong to name a few areas to look into.

So the speakers I believe in the back and the dash speakers crackle. I believe at one time i disconnected the subs and there were no crackling. For some reason I feel as if the whole system just isn't getting enough power because the dealership removed an amp and wired everything to the other stock one, and then I proceeded to add a 1000 watt amp and I feel it's alot on the alternator.

Lack of power.. when you say that, do you mean like upgrading the alternator?

or the battery or the wire gauge.

i can't tell if a bottleneck problem or an alternator problem without more info such as:
alternator amperage@idle and peak
battery info+age
what wire gauge you used for the amplifiers power/ground wire
amplifier and subwoofer model info

what line out converter did you use?(the thing that converted speaker signal into RCA jack)

Take it to a well trusted shop n just get it professionally fix gl btw
