He has an old ass accord that he wont let die, and wants to hook a stereo up
with a decent deck 2 10's panel speakers tweeters rear speakers, and some 6x9s.
I wouldn't let him go to car toys, because i've heard some bad shit about then so does anyone have any good audio dealership experiences?
Is this manageable is 500-600 dollars? or would be have to grab some stuff on craigslist, and install it ourselves.

what year/body style accord?

buying online and installing yourself is the best choice with that budget.

its a late 80s i think around 87 its a box sedan, also do you think it will rattle a ton?

ya it is definitely going to benefit from sound deadening lol.

metra says 5.25 fronts and 6.5 rears
sonic says 6.5s all the way around
crutchfield says 4 inch fronts and 6.5 rears

and the first few forum post i hit about this were a mix of these specs so it'd be helpful if you could verify speaker slot sizes.


now onto the biggest issue....that car is not only old but also not made to excel at anything other than low cost and mpgs.

that being said the electrical system on that car is going to be the single largest limitation you'll need to overcome. i assume he's using some cheap battery and the stock alternator? whats the alternators output amperage? usually its absurdly low on old econoboxes since they simply got "just enough" kind of parts.

personally i'd be more concerned with sound deadening+good interior speakers+good head unit if it was my install+big 3 wiring upgrade.

the reason for this is because it's somewhat impractical to bother with a sub until he can invest in a better electrical system unless he feels like running the very real risk of damaging the alternator and battery and ending up stranded somewhere when it happens. just one of the drawbacks of dealing with old cars and not having the budget to upgrade the electrical system.

Spend the $600 on a new car imo
