not really worth doing if you want to just have fun with it.

how about just for week ends drives, how often would i need to rebuild,

depends on how hard you run it and for how long. for example just messing around on my dirt bike i won't have to rebuild it for a few months....if i go out and spend a few hours racing it however i can expect a rebuild pretty damn soon.

those things really aren't that much fun unless you are racing them anyways. what kind of tracks do you have locally?

this is just for the future, im about to graduate college and thinking about to take a year off before grad school so this would be awesome working living at home spending money on karts lol
