I have a pioneer 5000ub and its now being used in car#2. I have had it about 5 years or so now. and for the past 2 years or so every now and then I will get a static loud crackle in the speakers. it would last maybe a day to a week then disappear for about 6 months and start again. Completely random. Well now its constant staticy thats ruining the music completely. When I turn on the cd deck it makes a little pop sound and it plays fine for maybe 2 minutes and the static starts. From all 6 door speakers is starts slow and then pretty soon you can hardly hear the music which is why i believe its not the speaskers. And it is highly unlikely that all 6 would blow at the same time . My guess is a sudden amp issue or its the old cd deck taking a shit

Also- I thought I might add, I will be buying a new cd deck eventualy regardless of the current issue. I need some suggestions for a new enough one to recognize the iphone5. I dont need any top line touch screen navigation bullshit though

It defintialy is the amp output distortion or the head unit, best way to distinguish this is to find out lower amp wattage (power) and see if the static is still heard. If it fades you know its your amp, if it continues either your amp is completely fired or its the hu. Best way to check that is to get a friends amp wire it up, good luck
