leave it off and just tune the bass/treble/mids properly.

using it just make everything sound worse.

im complete noob at this stuff. But what should the bass/treble/mid/fade be set to? or is it all just personal preference?

basically whatever sounds best with your particular speakers.

fade should stay how it is where all your speakers have even output.

For the sake of simplicity I find most basic stereos sound more clear when the EQ curve is shaped like a smiley face.
In other words have the bass up, mids down and treble up.

I rock my fade +5 to the front because the back speakers are in the doors and u really cant hear them.. the loud setting comes in handy when you download a shitty copy of music as well..

like they said it all depends on your setup and preference personally mine is set like this
bass= 0
treble = +3
mid =+4
fade = 0
balance = 0
sw lvl = +7 for daily drive (+15 if at competition)
bass knob about 1/3 turned

I would turn it to rear +5 so that way it makes up for them being less audible and you get a more balanced sound..
