I've already installed a Kenwood kac-1502S 350watt Amp in addition to a Rockford 12" in a Ported box. Speaker and ported box opening face the rear of the car (Located in the trunk of course). Amp is screwed / mounted to the side of the box.

It's all hooked up to the stock radio via Line Output Converter.

The car already has a Stock Amp built in addition to my aftermarket Kenwood Amp.

I want to have better clarity and more personalized sound settings + I really miss the AUX / USB on the deck..

I'm Installing a Kenwood deck I bought last year.

I need to purchase a Deck / Dash Kit for the car, and apparently I need to somehow install the STOCK Radio in the trunk, in addition to the aftermarket radio in the front / deck area. This is because it has to retain the chime / auto warning / idiot lights / programming in the car.

Aspen Sound in my area wants $120 for the Harness to hook up, but I KNOW there has to be an alternative to the $120 harness or even the $70 harnesses from Crutchfield or Clutchfield (whatever it is).

Any ideas on how to re-route the stock deck to the trunk and what all would I need to do so? Additionally, what is a Harness alternative that is compatible to the 2004 Impala? I believe my model does NOT have BOSE system nor ONSTAR.

Any tips / recommendations / genuine assistance is greatly appreciated

Also.. if anyone has questions about hooking a sub and amp to a stock radio,I can answer those questions

honestly just buy the harness. its basically $40 more than your method since you'd have to buy a spool of speaker wire.

i generally try to work with people but it's just absurd to deal with running the stock head units wiring all the way to the trunk in order to save $40.

I just bypass the amp by running speaker wire from the H/U to the factory amp but we have 1000' rolls of speaker wire for that...
I don't like those integration harnesses because they often fail anyway.

Basically you'd connect four sets of speaker wire to the four speaker outputs on the new head unit and run all four to the factory amp.
After that you figure out which wires go to what speakers and connect the ends accordingly.
If you look at the plug on the amp.. the speaker wires should be...

tan/grey
L green/D green
blue/L blue
brown/yellow

The pairs will be twisted together making them easy to identify.

Well, I noticed on Impala forums that a lot of people had to relocate it even with the harness. Had to use some sort of T Harness. Retains normal chimes / warning messages / etc.

They were all looking at like 120$ for the harness, so I'm curious if anyone else can validate that?
