I have an issue with my tweeters in my Lexus Es300 2003. Basically, I purchased some fairly solid component door speakers. Since I've been cranking the volume, the 2 factory tweeters (that aren't apart of the component speakers) have blown. It sounds terrible.

I took off my door-panel, and I removed a tweeter. When I turned on my music, the component door speaker for that door panel didn't work. Soooo I put the tweeter back in, and it worked. (but the tweeter is blown) It seems like removing the tweeters created an "open" circuit.

My options:

1- Purchase a pair of tweeters that can stay as loud as the other speakers w/o blowing
2- rewire the speakers?

What do you guys think my options are? Any recommendations?

i'd rewire and leave some leftover for if/when you get an amplifier.

its very simple. you'll just need to yank the head unit/door panel and have a few zip ties handy.

get some 10-12 gauge wire and you'll just run it under the dash and you'll see a spot where the rest of the wires run into the door. just run it through with the rest. you can remove the old ones if you want but as long as they aren't connect to the head unit they aren't going to cause any problems.

It just depends on if you want to take the easy way out, or doing some work for your nice system.
Rewiring isn't too bad the most annoying part is getting the wires into the door from the car.
As for where to start, a good point would be to look up the wiring diagram for your car and check what colors your speaker wires would be.
Make sure to test them before ripping them out of throughout the car though, if you have a multimeter that's a good way or also just try to follow it to the door speaker.

Personally I'd keep the component speakers because I like the sound and they give a wider range.
