2001 Chevy Impala
Current Sub/amp: 2 12" Kicker CVR's with 600.1 JL amp
Front Door Speakers: Rockford Fosgate R1653
Rear Speakers: BLOWN

I'm looking to put the order for these in today.

Which should I replace with?

(The same as the front speakers) RF R1653 with a 6.5"->6x9 plate

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_39185_Xscorpion-USPA-6090.html (is this the correct one?)

OR

(the 6x9 version) RF R1693

IMO - I was thinking the 6.5 with the plate (would bring in a more "clear" sound) as 6x9 are more "bass driven" speakers.
I have enough for that in the trunk though.... For now ;)

i prefer round over oval speakers. the sound quality is better by design.

Hey now, we all gotta start somewhere ;)
I've only done a lot of sub/amp installs, most already had aftermarket speakers/HU etc.
I was just wanting to make sure.

Also, your Sig is broken.
